Toy Story Midway Mania Ride

2006-2007 Toy Story Midway Mania Ride for Disney California Adventure

During the creation of this vast theme ride at Disney California Adventures, I was given the task of replicating the famous Tinker Toy Construction Set label from the early 1970's. Nowadays they'd probably print it digitally, but this was hand painted.

The Hard Rock Cafe Mural

In the summer of 1998 a hurricane badly damaged the mural at 100 Broadway in Nashville. Hard Rock International contacted me in Atlanta and commissioned me to repaint and update the piece.

UPDATE: Now, more than 10 years later, they're remodeling. Sad to see my art go, but at least they're putting some roof-top dining up there!

Amazing photo of my mural taken by Edwin D.....thank you, Ed!
As of this writing, there are over 700 photos of my Hard Rock Mural on Flickr.com thanks everyone. and
thank you, Ed G., Geo B., John M., Adam C.and the crew at Hard Rock Nashville.

The Blacklight Paintings, Part 2

1997 "Deadly Beauty" 6x15 ft. acrylic on canvas
Back in 1996-1998, I did a series of oversize blacklight paintings using UVFX Wildfire's fluorescent acrylic paints for the nightclub chain, Baja Beach Clubs.

The really cool part was in the studio, for part of the time painting these pieces I would work in complete darkness with just the blacklights on. When I'd spray certain areas it would look like colored light coming from the tip of my Iwata Eclipse airbrush.

Richard Green, and the guys over at UVFX make a terrific product with their Wildfire line of special effect paint. Check it out at wildfirefx.com

They're even printing with blacklight inks now...check it out at UVFX.com

Painting Africa

Pictured here in 1998, in my art studio creating one of seven different murals commissioned for Ameristar Casinos, including a four panel, 60 ft. panoramic painting of the Serengeti.
Originally for The Reserve Hotel and Casino, I'm told the property was acquired by Station Casinos in 2001, and is now the Fiesta Henderson.

Manet Mashup

In this photo from 1997 I am in my Atlanta Studio at 10 Krog Street.

I am painting a french impressionist style mural for one of the many Atlanta Bread Company locations. I combined the subjects from two different Édouard Manet paintings, In the Conservatory, and Chez Le Père Lathuile.
Edouard Manet (January 23, 1832 - April 30, 1883) was a French painter.

One of the first nineteenth century artists to approach modern-life subjects, he was a pivotal figure in the transition from Realism to Impressionism.

The painters who would go on to create Impressionism would claim his paintings marked the genesis of modern art.
